How to build a gang sheet (free, step by step)

Building a DTF gang sheet means packing many designs onto one transfer sheet so you waste less film and pay less per print. Here is the complete process — from preparing your artwork to downloading a print-ready file — using a free tool that does the packing for you.

What you need before you start

Step 1 — Export transparent PNGs at print size

Open each design in your editor and export it as a PNG with a transparent background, at 300 DPI, sized to the real print dimensions. For example, a chest logo that should print 10 inches wide should be exported at 3000 pixels wide (10 × 300). This is the single most important step: get the size and resolution right and the rest is easy.

Step 2 — Upload and set quantities

Drag and drop your PNGs into the upload box. Each file is measured automatically and shown with its print size in inches and an effective-DPI quality rating. Set how many copies of each design you need. If a design is the wrong size, resize it in inches — the DPI rating updates live so you never accidentally print something soft. Turn on Trim to crop away empty transparent borders so designs pack even tighter.

Step 3 — Choose roll width and gap

Set the printable width of your film roll. 22 inches is the DTF standard, but 13, 17, and 24 inch rolls are also supported. Then set the gap between designs — about 0.125 to 0.25 inches is typical. A smaller gap saves film; a larger gap makes weeding and cutting easier. Leave rotation on so the packing engine can turn designs when that yields a tighter layout.

Step 4 — Render, check the stats, and download

Press Render Layout. The tool packs everything into the shortest possible sheet and shows you how many designs were placed, the final sheet size, how much film is actually covered, and the page count. When you are happy, download the print-ready 300 DPI PNG and send it to your printer. Sheets longer than your chosen page length are split into multiple pages and bundled into a ZIP automatically.
