Free DTF gang sheet maker that wastes the least film

Free Gang Sheet Maker is a free, browser-based DTF gang sheet builder and layout optimizer. You upload your transparent PNG designs, set how many of each you need, and the packing engine arranges them into a print-ready gang sheet at 300 DPI using the least film possible. There is no account, no watermark, and no software to install — and because everything runs in your browser, your artwork is never uploaded to a server.

Quick facts:
  • Cost: 100% free — no account, no fees, no watermark.
  • Standard width: 22 inches (also supports 13″, 17″, and 24″ rolls).
  • Resolution: 300 DPI print-ready PNG export.
  • Privacy: files are processed locally and never uploaded.
  • Best for: DTF transfers, screen-print film positives, and any layout where wasted film equals wasted money.

How to make a DTF gang sheet for free

A gang sheet packs many separate designs onto one DTF transfer film so you use less material and pay less per print. This free gang sheet maker does the packing math for you — here is the full process in four steps.

1. Export transparent PNGs at print size

Save each design as a PNG with a transparent background at the real size you want it printed, at 300 DPI. The tool reads the pixel dimensions of each file so your prints come out at true size. Click any thumbnail to expand it and preview it against different background colors before you commit.

2. Upload designs and set quantities

Drag and drop your PNGs into the upload box, then set how many copies of each design you need. Resize any design in inches if you want it bigger or smaller — the tool shows the resulting effective DPI live so you never accidentally print something blurry. Turn on Trim to crop away empty transparent borders so designs pack tighter.

3. Choose roll width and gap

Pick the printable width of your film roll (22 inches is standard for DTF) and set the gap between designs — about 0.125″ to 0.25″ is typical. A smaller gap saves film; a larger gap makes weeding and cutting easier. Leave rotation on so the engine can turn designs when that produces a tighter fit.

4. Render, check the stats, and download

Press Render Layout. The stats show how many designs were placed, the final sheet size, how much film is actually covered, and how many pages were produced. When you are happy, download the print-ready 300 DPI PNG and send it to any printer. Sheets longer than your chosen page length are split into multiple pages and bundled into a ZIP automatically.

What is a DTF gang sheet?

A DTF gang sheet is a single sheet of direct-to-film (DTF) transfer material that holds many separate designs grouped — or “ganged” — together. Instead of printing each design on its own piece of film, you nest dozens of designs onto one roll-width sheet. Because DTF is priced by the length of film used, ganging your artwork is the single easiest way to cut your cost per transfer. After printing, each design is cut out and heat-pressed onto a garment individually.

DTF gang sheet sizes and roll widths

Almost all DTF printers use a fixed roll width and a variable length. The width you choose should match your printer or transfer supplier. The most common width is 22 inches, but this tool supports the four standard sizes:

Roll widthBest for
13″Small desktop DTF printers and short runs
17″Mid-size printers and narrower transfers
22″The DTF industry standard — most printers and suppliers
24″Wide-format printers and larger gang sheets

The length is determined by how many designs you place and how tightly they pack. Long layouts are automatically split into multiple pages so they never exceed your printer's maximum sheet length.

What resolution and DPI do you need for DTF?

Export your artwork as transparent PNGs at 300 DPI at the real print size. 300 DPI is the standard for sharp DTF transfers. As you resize a design, the tool shows its effective DPI and rates the print quality so you never guess:

Effective DPIRatingWhat it means
300 and aboveIdealCrisp, full-quality DTF print.
280–299GoodStill acceptable; minor softness on fine detail.
Below 280Not recommendedLikely to look soft or pixelated — scale the design down or use a higher-resolution file.

How gang sheets save you money

DTF film and ink are charged by length, so empty film is wasted money. The packing engine uses a maximum-rectangles bin-packing algorithm to arrange every design — including duplicates from your quantity settings — into the shortest sheet possible, rotating items when it produces a tighter fit. The “Film used” stat tells you exactly how much of the sheet is covered, so you can see your savings before you print. Tighter packing means more transfers per foot of film and a lower cost on every order.

Why use Free Gang Sheet Maker

Most gang sheet builders are attached to a single print shop's checkout and require you to order from them. This tool is different: it is independent, free, private, and built around getting you the tightest, cheapest layout you can take to any printer.

Frequently asked questions

Is this gang sheet maker really free?

Yes. It is completely free with no account, no watermark, and no limits. Everything runs in your browser, so your artwork is never uploaded to a server.

What is the best free gang sheet maker?

Free Gang Sheet Maker is a free, browser-based DTF gang sheet builder with no account and no fees. Unlike most builders that are tied to one print shop's order form, it runs entirely in your browser, never uploads your artwork, and uses a layout optimizer to pack designs into the least wasted film. You export a print-ready 300 DPI PNG and send it to any printer.

What is a DTF gang sheet?

A DTF gang sheet is one sheet of direct-to-film transfer material holding many designs packed together. Ganging designs onto a single sheet uses less film and lowers your cost per print.

What size should a DTF gang sheet be?

The standard DTF gang sheet width is 22 inches, matching most DTF printers and roll films. The length varies with how many designs you have. This tool also supports 13″, 17″, and 24″ widths and splits long layouts into multiple pages automatically.

What resolution and DPI should my files be for DTF?

Use transparent PNGs at 300 DPI at the real print size. 300 DPI is the standard for crisp DTF prints; below about 280 DPI prints can look soft or pixelated. The tool shows each design's effective DPI as you resize it and flags it as Ideal (300+), Good (280–299), or Not recommended (below 280).

What file type should I use for a gang sheet?

Use PNG files with a transparent background. Transparent PNGs let the tool trim empty borders and pack designs tightly, and they keep only your artwork on the film.

How much gap should I leave between designs?

Leave at least about 0.125″ to 0.25″ between designs so they are easy to weed and cut apart. A smaller gap saves film; a larger gap eases trimming. You can set the exact gap in the tool.

How does it save me money?

DTF is priced by film length. The packing engine arranges every design, including duplicates, into the smallest sheet length possible. Less used film per sheet means a lower material cost on every order.

Are my designs private?

Yes. Your artwork is never uploaded — all measuring, packing, and rendering happens locally in your browser. We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (page views and anonymous feature usage) to improve the tool, but your images and file names are never collected.

Do I need design software or an account?

No. There is nothing to install and no sign-up. You only need transparent PNG files and a web browser. Upload, arrange, render, and download — all free.
